Low Testosterone Levels
Upon reaching middle age, a large tummy or an increase in waistline size is a common physical appearance in men. In addition to that, men are easily exhausted, less energetic and have a shorter attention span. Studies indicate that the male hormone testosterone reduces rapidly after the age of 30 leading to a slowdown of the body’s metabolism and energy production.
Besides the natural aging process, testosterone deficiency can occur due to a number of causes such as illness medication, alcoholism, and a stressful lifestyle. Testosterone peaks during adolescence and early adulthood. As a man, testosterone levels decrease with age, typically about 1 to 3 percent a year after the age of 30.
